Snow these days seems like such a rare commodity (compared to living in Chicago). This Saturday though, we woke up to what felt like a pretty serene winter wonderland, and the kids couldn’t have been more excited. Even so, it always makes for an interesting time since it is way too cold to play outside for more than 15-20 minutes at a time.
**I love this picture. It was taken early enough where Arjun still has bed hair and the sun is just coming up. The stickers on the window are Melissa and Doug’s non-glue stickers which their aunt Komal got a few months ago. They never did use it on the intended surfaces, but love them on our windows. Which is just fine by me because they don’t actually stick!
**We hung some decorations during the birthday celebrations in the first week of the year and I never took them off because it adds a bit of cheer to my otherwise boring and depressing kitchen.
**Asha making a mew game out of old flowers. I was about to toss them when she decided that petals were her new favorite toy. We pressed a few in a big heavy book and hopefully we’ll remember to check back in a few days.
**Arjun’s favorite hiding spot!
**At first, we went out on the back deck but it was still too early in the morning. The wind was blowing hard and their poor little noses were red and runny in no time. After they kicked around few of their toys and snow, we promptly went back in.
**I couldn’t think of what else to do to keep them busy, so I figured why not bake. I have baked with Asha lots of times before, but with two it was a mad dash to make sure all the stuff didn’t end up on the floor. We opted for Strawberry muffins from Once Upon A Chef. Arjun made sure to lick and bite off a piece from every berry to guarantee freshness. They turned out really good!
**Arjun finally went down for a nap, which is when Asha and I went outside to shovel and mingle with the neighbors. Once Arjun was up, we made a tiny snowman and it was much more work than I remembered! But Asha was thrilled and went back every few minutes to “make sure he is okay”.
**The next day, Devang took them out for sledding and I decided to stay in and just observe from the window. It was funny how it took us more time to get them ready than they actually spent outside!
Hope you are having fun this weekend and keeping warm!
