It’s weird being the only one with kids in a room, but that’s what happened tonight when I took Asha and Arjun to the North Carolina Museum of Arts for their Friday evening live music series. Usually I would think twice before taking both the kids by myself to such an event, but I had it with the rain and staying indoors all day; I had to get out. So I put on my fancy pants and dressed Arjun in his bowtie onsie before picking up Asha from school.
The entire ride I was still wondering if this is a good idea, until, I saw that the parking spot closest to the front entrance was open in an otherwise packed parking lot – I mean come one; that never happens! Inside, the mood was festive and we were early enough to find a seat. The Onyx Club Boys were playing tonight and I got to hear some of the familiar tunes from A Midnight in Paris among other things; they were truly really good!
Despite of having my hands full, all three of us enjoyed the evening a lot (except, I did wish a few times for a free hand for a glass of wine). Asha was quite literally the only kid in the entire place and I think people took notice and made sure to say hello when she was squirming between the chairs. I felt a little out of place, but I got over that quickly once the music started. All in all not a bad way to spend a Friday evening. I can’t wait to go again, this time with preferably more adults (or more kids). Hope your weekend too had a great start!
