My first real job after undergrad didn’t pay the big bucks but the it made up in other areas. Lunches on the house, and trainings in Miami aside, the best perk was that the manager took my idea and allowed me convert an empty office into a library/nap room (no kidding…it had a dimmer, two comfy couches, and lots of books).
The Division President was even more generous. During spring and winter when the weather was nice, he’d send out frequent emails to the entire office saying “it’s too beautiful outside. You should leave at 2:00pm today and enjoy the day“.
Right now, it’s heavenly outside. The streets are packed with happy people walking around and eating outdoors on restaurant patios. It’s got me reminiscing about my old job. For the day at least.
The little things in life are more precious than gold indeed.
