- I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at myself because at 9:00am this morning I decided that it was time to check out the local shopping mall. Perhaps I am making too much of the matter but this is the most conflicted I have been in days. One part of me was excited at the prospect of going shopping while the other completely flabbergasted at the thought of waking up and going shopping for absolutely nothing in particular. The whole idea felt very suburban; very house wife-y! Every time I passed someone in the mall I wanted to declare that I did have other important things to do. But of course who cares! There were a hundred other moms with their babies in strollers. Apparently it’s where all the moms hang out. And why not!? In hindsight, it was super awesome to be in a quiet mall with plenty of space to check out the sale racks. No elbowing, no running over people’s toes with my baby stroller, no waiting in lines. Except of course that one part of me kept saying I am too good for this, while the other part was completely thrilled at the awesome deals she found at JCrew and Madewell.
- It’s been a month since we left Chicago. Strangely it feels so distant already! I miss my friends and I miss Asha’s school but other than that, I have found great things to do in Raleigh. The one and only thing that I dislike here are the bugs. There are so many bugs!!! I can’t check the mail without getting bitten by at least three mosquitoes. And it’s basically like living in wilderness with the kinds of bugs that crawl out after the rain. Yeah, I am happy to be living in such a green and lush place, but “how exciting to step in my shoe and find that a slug has crawled in” said no one ever.
- Few days ago I bought an iMac. It’s been over 10 years since I have owned a desktop but I am so happy to be back on the wagon. I love the big screen. And I love the retina display.
Happy Monday all. I leave you with a few pictures my friend Dottie took of our little family before we left Chicago.
