On Sunday, we decided to leave the hubbub of the city and drive 40 miles west to the small town of St. Charles, IL for a family picnic. The Fox River runs through this picturesque town and the houses lining its banks are more beautiful than any I have ever seen. Dare I say that I wouldn’t mind living in this type of suburbia!?
The picnic was at Pottawatomie Park and we could already smell the grilling corn from the parking lot. The number of kids in the family seems to multiple at each year’s picnic and I couldn’t get enough of the little kiddies some of whom are younger than Asha. Seeing the older kids running around, Asha wanted to practice too. I feel like she is just days away from being able to walk without support. I must have taken about a hundred pictures of her holding daddy’s hand and putting her legs to work (totally heart melting).
The day was perfect with the exception that it made me miss our family in Charlotte. For everything I am grateful for living here in Chicago, I wish we were just a tad closer to them.
Looks like a beautiful day! Excited for Asha walking. I know what you mean about wanting to be closer to family.
