For someone who spends a lot of time watching, listening, and reading about food, I am not very comfortable in my own kitchen. Like my mother, I love to feed people, but unlike her, I don’t really know how to do it effortlessly. She passed the cooking gene to my sister, and left me with good intentions and willingness to try.
I have this fantasy where friends are crowded in my kitchen while I cook gracefully, laughing and sipping my wine. The evening ends with empty plates and unending requests of when they can come over again. To facilitate this fantasy in the future, I’ve come up with a plan. I’m making a list of 10 dishes which will be my go-to recipes. Nothing too fancy, just healthy, simple, and comforting food that can be prepared with ease. I am ready to find my ten and hope they last long enough to pass them to my kids.
