I want to take a minute to recognize a huge milestone – Our beloved orange Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair has now been part of our family for a decade. If furniture could be a pet, this one would be ours.
It’s been used, abused, and loved so deeply. From early days of motherhood to now when I get to pretend I know what I am doing – “come sit down, let me give you a treat” – is still by far the easiest way I know to fix a slippery situation. This chair has been there to see all of us through all of our different temperaments. Quietly letting us know she is there to offer a safe cozy spot.
On Thursday, November 4, 2022, Ari asked to sit at the kitchen island with the rest of the big kids to eat his dinner. He is still much too short. And of course, much too smart to know that if he climbs the island and dances around, his mother will just write it off as “he is still a baby” and in fact encourage the behavior by happily taking some pictures.
The Stokke was proud of him, I could tell.
I am not sure when we will stop needing our high chair entirely. But clearly the day is not too far in the future. She is so stained and dirty that I can’t wait to give her a spa day and may be even a makeover with a new coat of paint. Then, I plan to change the seat settings so that we can start using her like an adults’ chair. I will claim her as mine, because she and I, well, we share a special bond.
So, in honor of my Stokke celebrating 10-years with the Gujarathi family, here is a look back at just few of the thousands of happy moments she has helped us create over the years. You go girl! We love you so much. Cheers to 10 more!
