When friends and family ask me what they can bring from their travels I always request that they send me a postcard.
I can’t think of a better souvenir honestly. Especially the ones that get sent to me from abroad, always have a beautiful stamp and often a smell that is of foreign lands. Is it weird that I smell my postcards?
If you are one of my friends who cherish the idea of a short hand written note too, then you already have received my postcards from Hawaii, Bonaire, Chicago, Germany, West Palm Beach, Lake Tahoe, or wherever my travels have taken me in the recent past. Believe it or not, I have a list of about 10 such folks (including my parents and my nephews of course).
That said, postcards don’t always have to be about special or exotic places. Once in a while, I come across a silly one to remind me of an inside joke with a friend. Like this coffee one which is too good to be left alone. And even though it originated from a mega book store near my non exotic DC office, I picked it up and mailed to the one person who will appreciate it the best!
So for those of you out there who claim ‘never to travel anywhere nice’, or ‘don’t know what to write’ start with something like this. It’s funny and thoughtful, and let’s you get away with filling the blank space with just
“Hope it made you laugh.
Thinking of you.”
Here, is a glimpse at my post-card album. There are still so many blank pages. Sounds like you guys have some work to do!
This is absolutely hilarious, Chika girl… I think you can even get away without filling the blank space.
Thanks for the laugh! Good stuff.
