Fishing on the Haw River

Thanks to Dev’s wonderful friends Nicole and Tyler, and thanks to the kids who are not skirmish like their mother, we went fishing on the Haw River in Pittsboro, this past weekend.

I caught a fish with my first cast, and screamed instantly with panic because I did not like the inevitable act of having to touch the poor fish. Nicole came to my rescue thankfully and saved the day. If it was just us, Dev would have enjoyed the sight of me jumping around with a pole and a fish at the end of it.

I spent most of my time enjoying the peaceful surroundings, taking pictures, being the fetcher of things from the car, reading, and yes, doing some fishing as well.

We were out there for 3 hours and the kids would have stayed longer if they weren’t told we had to leave. I am always so grateful for people who don’t have their own kids yet, and therefore could do whatever they want, choose instead to hang out with our kids with so much patience and teach them something new and have fun with them! Nicole and Tyler, a big thank-you for being such good company! Seriously, you could have been doing ANYTHING AT ALL, but you spent your time with us! Thank-you!!

For a full 5+ hour experience, may I suggest eating lunch at Allen & Son BBQ, going fishing by the Haw River Acces 15-501 byOld Bynum Bridge, and then enjoying some Italian Ice at Jeremiah’s.

This for sure is the first of many. Happy Fishing!
