It’s a New Dawn, It’s a New Day

I came down with something bad on Friday afternoon. Tests revealed that it was neither the flu nor COVID, even though it felt like I had both concurrently.

For someone who doesn’t get sick often, I had forgotten the feeling of death that comes with getting ill. While tossing and turning one night, I even had a dream that my bones were a jumble of puzzle pieces and I had to put back together to live, but couldn’t. It was dreadful.

Even so, I did manage to smile often seeing how well everyone pulled it together in the absence of their mother (who clearly was holding on to some inflated views of her importance in a functioning daily life). Older kids looked after the younger ones. Dev came home early from work to help and life went on beautifully as I slept with my evil dreams for hours at a time.

I woke up feeling much better on Sunday morning. But I had stayed in bed just a tad longer. I came down to find Arjun in the midst of breakfast prep. I was craving some orange juice, so I took on that task knowing he had the rest under control.

Then we worked on the best 1000-piece puzzle we have ever found. Called, The WORLD OF CURIOSITIES, it was impossible to walk away from until done. I would highly recommend it for any upcoming family vacations or guest visits. Thanks to a neighbor who passed it on to us.

I am still fighting a cold and a cough. So parenting by yelling will have to wait another couple of days. But clearly it’s not needed.

You know, life is rather good. And I am very thankful to have my health back. And with that – like magic – I know I will be needed everywhere, all at once.

Hope you are well too. xoxo
