About 15 years ago when I lived in Charlotte, my cousins and I started the tradition of cooking the Thanksgiving feast mainly to review the sale listings and plan our Black Friday shopping. Over the years my attendance at these dinners became spotty as I moved away. But I am happy to report that this year, thanks to our move to Raleigh, I was able to drive the couple of hours with the kids and see the whole family which now pretty much is ruled by little kids. It is heart warming to see how our family has grown and how the tradition continue on (sans the next day shopping…which is a good thing).
This year I feel like I should be thankful just for the chance to wake up in my home, in my warm and clean bed, eat good food, and hang out with my happy kids and husband. So many people around the world haven’t been so lucky. But of course there is so much more too that has made this year the best one yet.
